Member for Eastern Victoria, Harriet Shing MP, today marked the completion of the $13 million Warragul Trunk Sewer Upgrade.

Visiting the project in Warragul, representing the Minister for Environment, Climate Change and Water, Lisa Neville, Ms Shing commended Gippsland Water’s completion of the project which is part of its investment in the growing region.

The project delivers four kilometres of new sewer line and allows for future growth in the town which is the hub of one of Victoria’s fastest growing areas, Baw Baw Shire.

Delivered in three stages, the new sewer line has increased capacity built in and reduces the risk of sewer spills into local waterways which had been a problem over many years.

Previously unsewered properties close to the Warragul CBD will now also be serviced.

Baw Baw Shire is expected to grow from a population of approximately 45,000 to almost 75,000 by 2036.
