HEALTHY BOOST TO REVAMP COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTRE IN BAIRNSDALE

Wednesday, 24 June, 2017

The Andrews Labor Government will invest $1.3million to upgrade the Gippsland Lakes Community Health Centre so more people can get the care they need, closer to home.

Member for Eastern Victoria, Harriet Shing MP today announced this community health service will share in $9.8 milion for a range of redevelopments, refurbishments and infrastucture upgrades across the state.

The $1.3 million will be used to refurbish the GLCH facility on the corner of Main Street & McCulloch Street.

Rural Victoria is a big winner with $5.875 million going towards five community health facilities.

In metropolitan Melbourne, six centres will share in $2.92 million for major projects and a further 12 will each receive about $90,000 for minor capital works.

Community health services play a unique role in the Victorian health system providing integrated health and social services for vulnerable Victorians that are tailored to meet the needs of local communities.

These upgrades will give community health services the room, facilities and technology they need to grow and deliver more services to meet growing demand.

That means clients will have better access to the safe and high quality care they need, right on their doorstep, and enjoy better health outcomes.

The Victorian Budget 2017/18 delivered $1.67 billion to support hospitals meet demand and provide high quality care Victorian patients deserve.
