$31,000 TO FIX MISSING WALKING AND CYCLING LINK IN LEONGATHA

Thursday, 17 March 2016

The Andrews Labor Government will partner with South Gippsland Shire Council to complete the missing link between the Leongatha Public Transport Hub and the Great Southern Rail Trail.

This $31,000 investment will make walking and cycling across Leongatha easier and safer for residents and visitors.

The project will construct a new sealed walking and cycling track between the Public Transport Hub in Long Street and Bennet Lane.

The new path will encourage active travel and improve community connections, which aligns with the Gippsland Regional Growth Plan 2013, Victoria’s Cycling Strategy, and the Pedestrian Access Strategy 2010.

The project is co-funded, with the Victorian Government contributing $23,000 through its Transport Investing In Regions (TIIR) initiative and South Gippsland Shire Council contributing $8,000.

TIIR supports local community transport across regional Victoria. For more information, visit www.ecodev.vic.gov.au.
