LATROBE – GIPPSLAND’S UNEMPLOYMENT RATE CONTINUES TO FALL

Regional unemployment in Latrobe-Gippsland is currently sitting at 3.0 percent in the three months to June 2019, according to the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics data.
This is down from 3.5 percent three months ago, and down from 7.7 percent at the same time last year.
This is well below the regional Australian average of 5.3 percent.
Over the year to June 2019, employment grew by 2.2 percent.
Since November 2014, employment in the Latrobe-Gippsland region has increased by 7,700 people
Under the Andrews Labor Government, regional Victoria is benefiting from thousands of new jobs with regional unemployment the lowest among the states at 3.8 percent.
Since November 2014, Victoria’s regional unemployment has fallen by 2.8 percent– the largest decrease among the states.
The Andrews Labor Government is delivering unprecedented investment into the region through the Gippsland regional rail line upgrade, rebuilding local TAFEs and the establishment of the GovHub and Hi-Tech Precinct in the Latrobe Valley.
