Thursday, 30 March 2017

Morwell students today celebrated Morwell Central Primary School’s Open Day, which has brought together three local primary schools and more than 400 students into one brand new campus.

Representing Minister for Education James Merlino, Member for Eastern Victoria Region Harriet Shing unveiled the school’s plaque to formally commemorate the opening of the school.

Morwell Central combines the former Commercial Road, Morwell and Tobruk Street Primary Schools as part of the $18.5 million Morwell Regeneration Project.

Students, staff, families and community members celebrated the official opening with a barbeque, welcome to country and a traditional Koori dance.

Morwell Central Primary School is one of 10 new schools opening in 2017, and one of 42 schools in the construction pipeline thanks to an unprecedented $1.8 billion investment in school infrastructure.

For two years the Andrews Labor Government has invested in building the Education State so every community can access a great school and every student is supported to reach their full potential.
