MOTORCYCLE SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS ON MOE-GLENGARRY ROAD

Friday 20 April , 2018

The Andrews Labor Government is making Moe-Glengarry Road safer for motorcyclists, with upgrade works set to start in the coming months.

Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing today announced works to upgrade the popular route, with the Labor Government investing $260,000 to make the road much safer for riders.

Upgrades include adding cushioning and rub rail protection to existing barriers, while resealing the road to smooth out the pavement and loose gravel getting on the road from side access roads and driveways.

The upgrade is part of the Labor Government’s plan to boost safety for motorcycle riders at crash hotspots around the state.

Works will begin in mid-2018 and are set to be completed in late 2018, with reduced speed limits in place to keep workers and drivers safer during construction.

Quotes attributable to Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing:

“The Latrobe Valley is a busy and popular destination for motorcycle riders of all ages and abilities and so these safety upgrades to a popular route across Gippsland are exceptionally important.

“The work to improve regional road safety requires a range of initiatives – and we’re determined to make a difference in every way we can.”
