Heyfield Bowls Club members are enjoying the carpet-like surface of a newly installed synthetic green thanks to funding provided by the Andrews Labor Government.

Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing today visited the Club to open the new synthetic green, supported by a grant of over $191,000 through Latrobe Valley Authority’s Community and Facility Fund to replace the existing grass with a low maintenance synthetic green.

The new synthetic surface will reduce the club’s maintenance costs, allow for year-round playing conditions and encourage increased membership.

The club previously secured a $135,015 grant through the Fund for clubroom upgrades including a new outdoor barbeque area to accommodate social events and activities to help increase participation and enhance social inclusion.

The Labor Government’s Latrobe Valley Authority has now provided local bowls clubs with over $1 million in funding through the Community and Facility Fund to install low-maintenance synthetic greens and upgrade clubrooms.

Other clubs to benefit from the Fund are Warragul Bowling Club, Stratford Bowling Club, Moe Bowling Club, Yinnar Bowls and Recreation Club, and Yallourn North Bowling Club.

The Latrobe Valley Authority’s Community and Facility Fund supports community-led initiatives and projects that help make the region a great place to live and work.
