NEWRY HALL BACK IN ACTION FOR LOCAL COMMUNITY
Newry Hall has reopened for the local community to enjoy following a 12-month refurbishment project, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.
Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing today welcomed the reopening of the facility which was redeveloped, thanks to a $224,774 grant through the Latrobe Valley Authority’s Community and Facility Fund.
The extensive upgrades at the hall will help attract higher-profile events and live music performances, as well as providing better facilities for the hall to host private events like birthday parties and weddings.
The hall has been refurbished inside and out, with works including new acoustics and a sound system, projector screen, stage curtains and lighting, kitchen refit, heating and cooling upgrades, supper room and library refurbishment, signage, storage, and all abilities parking and access.
There is a strong sense of community pride in the Hall, with $35,000 raised by the local community and over 50 people volunteering their time, skills and expertise.
Throughout the project, almost 40 local businesses provided their services, including lighting and audio visual specialists, electrical contractors, cabinet makers, and sheet metal businesses.
Over 160 community projects have now come to life thanks to grants totalling more than $14 million from the Labor Government through the Latrobe Valley Authority’s Community and Facility Fund.
