PHILLIP ISLAND AND BASS COAST VIC RECOGNISED FOR MAKING VICTORIA AN UNFORGETTABLE DESTINATION

The Phillip Island and Bass Coast Visitor Information Centre has been awarded for its contribution to Victoria’s tourism industry.

Today, Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Harriet Shing congratulated the team at the Phillip Island and Bass Coast Visitor Information Centre for taking out the Standard
Accommodation Category at the prestigious 2015 RACV Victorian Tourism Awards.

The award is a fitting tribute to the Bass Coast Shire Council’s commitment to providing visitors with welcoming, informative and local knowledge and assistance.

About the Phillip Island and Bass Coast Visitor Information Centre

The Phillip Island and Bass Coast Visitor Information Centre Network provides integrated visitor services from four centres, located in Inverloch, Wonthaggi and Newhaven and Cowes on Phillip Island, and offers visitors a one-stop shop for planning and booking their holidays to the area.

Tourism contributes $21 billion to the State’s economy and generates jobs for 206,000 Victorians, but the success of the industry is due in large part to the hard work of our wineries, hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions in highlighting the best of everything Victoria has to offer.

The Andrews Labor Government has recently unveiled Visit Victoria, the State’s new entity charged with growing this important industry, and has committed an additional $80 million to attracting and retaining major events and tourism.

The Andrews Labor Government is also investing $3 million in the most ambitious regional marketing campaign in our State’s history, while Brand Victoria will help sell our strengths as Victoria competes for trade and investment, tourism, major events and international students.
