UPGRADES TO MORWELL KINDERGARTENS’ PLAY-BASED LEARNING SPACES
Monday, 13 May 2019
The Andrews Labor Government is ensuring Morwell children can attend a first-rate kindergarten, with high-quality facilities and better learning support.
Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing today officially opened the new works at Carinya Early Learning Centre and Elizabeth Wilmot Kindergarten in Morwell, which have each received $200,000 to make their play-based learning spaces more inclusive.
At Carinya Early Learning Centre, new paths will link all playgrounds to new water features and river rocks, climbing and sand play areas, and a timber pergola and bridge.
At Elizabeth Wilmot Kindergarten, a new tepee village and timber bridge were installed, along with a new grassed play area and paths for children of all abilities.
These important works are part of a $6.4 million program to provide more inclusive play-based learning areas.
In an Australian-first, the Labor Government is investing almost $5 billion over the next decade to ensure every Victorian three-year-old has access to a full 15 hours of kinder by 2022.
