Wednesday, 17 July 2019
Small businesses in the Yarra Ranges will benefit after it joined other councils across Victoria who have signed up to the Andrews Labor Government’s Small Business Friendly Council initiative.
Under the scheme councils agree to pay small businesses within 30 days, reducing unnecessary red tape and properly supporting small businesses when they are disrupted by public works.
The measures also streamline the processing of approvals and supports local business networks.
There are currently 13,199 businesses in the Yarra Ranges which stand to benefit from the initiative.
The initiative is centred around a charter between councils and the Victorian Small Business Commission outlining their shared goals in creating a more supportive business environment.
The already-successful initiative was launched in May by the Minister for Small Business Adem Somyurek and is managed by the Victorian Small Business Commission.
The Labor Government is dedicated to working together with councils to support small businesses and building a fair and inclusive economy that benefits all Victorians.
