$19,184 AWARDED TO LATROBE TO KEEP COMMUNITIES SAFE

The Andrews Labor Government has awarded $19,184 to community organisations in Latrobe City to address local crime and safety issues under the Community Safety Fund.
Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing today announced the following organisations would receive funding.

| Gippstown Reserve Committee of Management | Installation of a roller security shutter at the Old Gippstown Heritage Park to prevent further break-ins via the main entrance of the park. | $1,797 |
| Morwell Football Netball Club Inc | Installation of a security alarm system, flood lights, and roller shutter doors at the Morwell Football Netball Club to prevent further break-ins and improve the security of equipment stored on site. | $10,000 |
| Glengarry Recreation Reserve Committee of Management | Installation of roller shutters and a roller door at the Glengarry Recreation Reserve to complete a security upgrade to the premises, prevent further break-ins and improve security of equipment. | $7,387 |
These projects are among the 63 projects sharing in more than $703,000 in funding under the 2019–20 round of grant allocations.
The Community Safety Fund provides grants for Victorian councils and community organisations to deliver projects tackling local crime issues.
Grants are provided under two streams of funding, with one for up to $10,000 for projects preventing crime in and around community facilities and public spaces, and another up to $25,000 to support education and awareness projects about home safety, personal property and theft reduction.
Since 2015, the Labor Government has provided almost $3.7 million in Community Safety Fund grants to support 523 projects across Victoria.
The grants form part of the government’s $25 million investment in the Community Crime Prevention Program, which aims to reduce crime and its root causes.
