NEW CAMPAIGN TELLS MELBURNIANS THAT GIPPSLAND IS READY WHEN THEY ARE
Tuesday, 11 July 2017
Gippsland features prominently in a new Victorian Government campaign aimed at Melburnians, to highlight the strengths and opportunities in rural and regional Victoria.
The launch of the Ready when you are campaign coincides with the 1 July doubling of the regional First Home Owner Grant and cuts to stamp duty. These changes will make it more affordable for people to own a home and do business in the regions.
The campaign features people from around the state who have already relocated to regional Victoria, and shares their stories about what encouraged them to move.
Minister for Regional Development Jaala Pulford, and Treasurer Tim Pallas, today officially launched the campaign, which draws on research showing the key attractors to relocation.
The key drawcards for those looking to relocate include affordable housing, education, health and lifestyle – with other drivers being family, social connections and employment.
Ready when you are will roll out across digital platforms including social media and the campaign website – www.regionalliving.vic.gov.au – where people can get more information about living in any of Victoria’s nine regions, including Gippsland.
Quotes attributable to Member for Eastern Victoria, Harriet Shing:
“We’re making it easier for regional businesses to create jobs by cutting payroll tax by 25 percent, cutting stamp duty and increasing the first home owners grant – giving some businesses the lowest rate in the country and giving more people the chance to buy their first home.”
“We know regional Victoria has the best of everything and we want more people to experience it, particularly in Gippsland.
“With Labor’s Regional Rail Revival locked in to deliver long-awaited improvements for the Gippsland line, and more frequent and reliable services, there are more reasons than ever to choose our region. Gippsland is a great choice to live, work and invest.”
