PLANNING A SAFER TRUCK ROUTE FOR SALE
Wednesday, 14 June, 2017
The Andrews Labor Government is looking at ways to move trucks off local roads in Sale to boost traffic flow and improve safety.
Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing has announced $450,000 to enable VicRoads and Wellington Shire Council to investigate a more efficient truck route around Sale.
Commercial drivers travelling along Princes Highway East through Sale often face delays due to traffic lights, roundabouts and local speed zones, prompting some to take detours.
VicRoads will work closely with local residents, businesses and the council to develop options to improve amenity and safety in the township.
Quotes attributable to Member for Eastern Victoria, Harriet Shing:
“We need to keep our freight moving – that’s why we’re investigating options to remove the bottleneck of heavy vehicles through Sale.”
“We want to get trucks off local roads and onto quicker, more efficient freight routes to improve safety for the community and save costly delays to freight operators.”
