The Andrews Labor Government has announced funding to improve the safety, access and amenity of Gippsland’s coastal areas.

The funding is part of the Government’s nearly $1 million Coastal Public Access and Risk Program that provides financial assistance to Victorian coastal Crown land managers, including volunteer committees of management and local governments, to reduce coastal risk and improve public access.

Harriet Shing, Member for Eastern Victoria Region, is calling on Coastal Crown land managers to apply for funding of up to $150,000 for projects that reduce coastal risk through identification, mitigation and monitoring.

Applications for the Coastal Public Access and Risk Program funding open on Monday 18 September 2017.

In previous years, committees of management have used the funding to create new or enhance existing infrastructure, such as improving beach stairways, building new access ramps and installing new signage.

Applications are open for five weeks on Monday 18 September 2017 and must be submitted online by Friday 20 October 2017.
