Welcome aboard – Victoria’s first Volvo Euro 6 route service bus
Member for Eastern Victoria region, Harriet Shing today welcomed the first low floor route service bus to be operated by Latrobe Valley Bus Lines.
The low floor Volvo Euro 6 has environmentally friendly technology and operates with improved environmental performance by reducing fuel consumption, engine emissions as well as noise levels.
Ms Shing said Latrobe Valley Bus Lines are the first Victorian bus company to operate a low floor Euro 6 route service bus.
Each Euro 6 bus can replace a minimum of 30 cars, meaning a decrease in Carbon Monoxide emissions.
The low-floor nature of the Euro 6 bus means that it will be accessible to all passengers.
The bus was made locally in Victoria at Volgren and is the first Euro 6 route service bus in Australia.
Latrobe Valley Bus Lines currently operates 24 town and inter-town route services, carrying over 700,000 passengers and operating 2.3 million kilometres a year.
Quotes to be attributed to Member for Eastern Victoria, Harriet Shing MP:
“These new services will allow more people to access public transport in Gippsland. People of all ages from Mums and Dads with young children in a pram, to people with wheelchairs and mobility aids will benefit.”
“Everyone in our community should think about leaving their car at home, jumping on board and checking out one of the new environmentally friendly, low floor buses.”
